Automorphisms of the Three-torus Preserving a Genus Three Heegaard Splitting

چکیده
The mapping class group of a Heegaard splitting is the group of connected components in the set of automorphisms of the ambient manifold that map the Heegaard surface onto itself. For the genus three Heegaard splitting of the 3-torus, we find an eight element generating set for this group. Six of these generators induce generating elements of the mapping class group of the 3torus and the remaining two are isotopy trivial in the 3-torus.

Let M be a closed orientable 3-manifold of Heegaard genus two with a non-trivial JSJ-decomposition and G be a finite group of orientation-preserving smooth actions on M which preserves each handlebody of Heegaard splitting and each piece of the JSJ-decomposition of M . We will call some specific conditions of the Heegaard splitting and the JSJ-tori the condition A, . . . , and the condition F. ...

متن کاملHeegaard splittings of 3–manifolds (Haifa 2005) Problems
The only known examples of 3–manifolds that admit infinitely many Heegaard splittings of the same genus are given in Sakuma [35], Morimoto and Sakuma [28] and Bachman and Derby-Talbot [3]. By Li’s proof of the Waldhausen conjecture [19], any such manifold must have an essential torus T . In the presence of such a torus, it is easy to see how an infinite number of Heegaard splittings of the same...
